Our First Ipad Game Review "Real Racing 3"

Hi everyone, we have a new video recorded from an Ipad, the game is Real Racing 3, which is a fremium racing game available for IOS and Android tablets and phones. The video and audio quality is not the best :S, but I hope I find better ways of recording ipad videos in the future or post process the videos to looks better.

The race is done with an Audi R8 V10 in the circuit of SPA Francorchamps, wich is one of my favourite circuits :) The car has all the upgrades you can buy with money but none of the ones you need gold to buy. My starting laps are a bit rusty, that was because the ipad becomes laggy while recording but I got used to it and made a decent lap (2:10) at the end :)

I will be making new videos soon of different races and cars soon.

I dont use brake assist because it will slow you down quite a lot, but i use traction control so i dont lose control of the car easily and steering assist because I hate moving too much the ipad when i have to turn hard XD. I dont think steering assist will slow you down, but if you are good you might be able to get faster times without traction control.

The in-game graphics are quite good for the Ipad, when this game came out I was quite gladly surprised by the graphics quality, it plays very nicely on my Ipad 3 with no lag *(if you are not recording). I also like the way the steering feels on the ipad, i played some racing games but some where too much sensitive or insensitive with the motion sensor, but real racing 3 feels just right to me. Another thing I like is the style of the game, in my opinion its very similar to that of Gran Turismo, its more like a real driving simulatorrather than an arcade driving game,  Gran Turismo was one of my favourite games while i was a kid, probably being the main reason I like this game.

Also this game has interesting features like when the car crashes you loose performance and you can see damage visually. you also have to pay in game money for repairing and servicing the car, I see this as cool features as it makes it more realistic, also this im not sure but if you crash in the middle of a race you lose performance in the moment you crash, I can't say it for sure but i think that is the case. There is also a very interesting feature, when you are connected to the internet, you play against previous player race-times, the cars you compete with will complete the race in the same time as previous players have completed the race. In my opinion that's quite cool.

But there are a couple of things wrong with the game, first you can buy money and gold :( and the price is really expensive $50000 in the game is 1.49 pounds, or $3000000 for 70 pounds :O are we crazy?? who is going to buy that XD, in my opinion they could make a paid version of the game with some benefits over the free version like different extra cars for 3 pounds or something similar, that actually would be considerable and do not allow anyone to buy money or gold.

The other bad thing is that some people have managed to cheat the game, so they get the most expensive cars and free money. I think EA should be really careful on this cheating issues as its not fair to player that dont cheat,  to me cheating to get the good cars takes away the fun of the game. That also makes pointless to pay for money or gold. And cheating is so easy there are guides everywhere like this one
( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rygc9wkbsac ).

It also looks like EA is having some profitability issues with the game ( http://www.penny-arcade.com/report/article/is-real-racing-3-the-huge-hit-ea-claims-not-yet-but-it-certainly-could-be-s ), and to me it makes sense, as the only way for them to get money is to sell in-game money and gold, and as it is so easy to cheat on that... I'm not sure if they get money from carmakers, but I think there are better ways of making the game profitable, for example you they could add sponsors like what you have in Grid game so they pay you money at the end of a race if you achieve certain goals. This sponsors can be real companies, in my opinion that's a way they can advertise companies in a friendly way to the players, and if we add a paid version with a reasonable price that doesn't give you advantage over the free player but offers you more customisation, lower waiting times, more cars and so on. Profitability on games is important as it will mean better games in the future.

Another last thing that I feel the game is missing is rankings, I would love to know where my best lap times are in comparison with everyone, I think everyone likes to compare with each other and I think time rankings worldwide would be a good way.

Overall I think the game is quite good, the graphics are awesome it supports many devices and it has very innovative features. The gaming style is quite astounding and its the first kind of proper driving simulator I've seen for tablets and phones.

I would give it a score of (8/10).
